rain scuppers close-ups in the scene where george tells theo what he's doing up here (thinking!) but the man and his extremely beautiful dog turned up bang on time, as did the rolling mists.
'yes. but silence too is addictive: the endless lure of inaction.'

'don't make rhetorical questions a habit, theo; they irk.'
not my favourite quote of the day, this, as it happens, but my favourite quote of the day is not quite fit for what has after all become a 'family' social network. surprise challenge of the day: the moon vehicle shaped digger that starts doing 'road works' on the field track directly outside our hut at 8am. diligent arranging of coffee and lunch breaks means both parties get to do their day's work. we're ahead of schedule so start shooting the complicated scene which involves theo cooking a full english breakfast or the closest to it he can get with what he finds in the hut. this proves to be the unsurprising challenge of the day, but we make good headway, hit dinner at 8pm on the dot and look forward to another 7am start... 'and i don't cook. don't expect me to cook for you.'
twelve hours of intensive concentrated work. five scenes in the can. one day's schedule completed on time. nine people tired but happy. so far, so good... so begins another journey.
we are exactly one month away from travelling to our first location, high up and far back in the mountains. the first half of our shoot takes place in one of the remotest valleys in switzerland. but before we get there we have a few things to get sorted, obviously. not least our cash flow. so today, with the new website, we're also officially launching our fundaframe campaign. we want to make this the first frame-by-frame funded feature film in history. if this was a traditionally financed film, it would be classed as a low or ultra-low budget feature, and it would cost about £250k. being a no-budget feature, it will cost, in cash, about a tenth of that. which sounds like a bargain, and of course it is. it's only possible because everybody is giving their time for free to start with, with the dim prospect of seeing some sort of fee much later, if and when the film is released. and it still leaves us with about £25k that we need to find. and that's why the very first thing we need to send out, today, is our plea to you: please fund a frame in our film! it costs less than a pint of ale, and significantly less than a glass of wine, but every little bit adds up and comes together and with you help we can make a bit of film history, even before our film is made. thanks |
due to the horrendous evils of spam i've had to set comments to 'approval needed'. but please feel free to comment: i won't censor or hide you; this really is just to spare us all the intrusion of unwanted advertising for decidedly crap websites.
sebastiani am, i suppose, the instigator of this project. i wrote it, i'm producing it together with pascal verdosci, i'm directing, together with adam berzsenyi bellaagh, and because i've got adam codirecting, i'm even acting in it. but really the impetus for it came from our director of photography gregor brändli, who said to me 'october i'd be available to make a film'. and we'd been meaning to make our first feature ever since we first worked together, back in 2005... archives
